One of their best traits is the ability to  acclimate very quickly to their new surroundings.  They are very sociable even with other species. In the wild they often flock together   with Monk Parakeets. Like all conures they are not  sexually dimorphic and have to be  DNA or surgically sexed.

They  make very good pets because they are very affectionate and playful. Their  price is relatively  low compared to some other conures and are available for $125 to $250 depending on availability and location.

 ost Nandays love to bathe in the rain in the wild and therefore love showers from a   spray bottle or take baths in a water dish.

The Nanday has not been very popular with a lot of bird breeders.  The main reason is their loud voice. They can be quiet vocal, however this pertains much more to breeder birds  and of course birds in the wild than your  tame hand fed pet. Most pets will not be very vocal. Also one misconception is, that the Nandays talking abilities are somewhat limited. There again it depends on the individual bird and your patience in teaching him. Most Nandays are capable of speaking a lot more phrases than just 5 or 6 as stated in several bird books and I have come across several home pages that reinforce this.
