| The first thing
of course everybody wants to do is play with the new pet and cuddle it
and give him/her their constant attention. This is very important but please
keep the following in mind. The first few days are very stressful for your
new bird.
Your bird is scared, it has been taken out of the only environment it ever knew, it is now in a new cage, new surroundings without his/her siblings to cuddle up to. Your bird is scared and frightened and does not know you. It is therefore much better, as hard as that is to do for a new pet owner, to leave it in its cage for a while and only take it out every so often the first few days for 10 minutes at a time. Give the bird a few hours to explore the new cage. There are new faces to get used to, perhaps other new pets, like dogs, cats, the noise of children . All these will frighten a young bird and stress him/her out and it will take a few days to get adjusted to. |

| Any bird will
be stressed going to a new home and this can affect your new pets
eating habits Make sure to inquire what your birds have been fed by your
breeder.
We try to give all new pet owners a bag of our pellet mixture . If you decide to feed your bird different pellets or a seed mixture, please do not change from one day to the next to new feed. Mix the feed given to you by the breeder with your new feed, first 75% breeder feed, 25 % new feed. Everyday change this ratio so bird gets slowly used to new feed without upsetting him too much. Usually by the end of a week the bird will be used to eating the new food without any problem. |

| Our birds are
fed a combination of pellets, seeds and fresh fruits and vegetables.
There are a number of good pellets on the market. These pellets are designed with all the nutrition and protein balanced for a healthy bird. Pellets come in "Maintenance" and "Breeder". You want to purchase the "maintenance" it is formulated for your pet bird. The seeds for the conures should be a good parrot mix ,vitamin enriched.
Your bird should have a cuttle bone available at all times for his/her
calcium needs.
Also a good treat is an occasional peanut. Please limit these, since
they are very high in protein. Another treat is raw pasta,
they do like that.
Other than that, your bird can eat pretty well whatever you eat, but should have a low salt intake. And of course your bird should always have fresh water available at all times. |
